Spiritual yahoo boys; Danger of the indaboski.

Modern day religion in Nigeria is fast becoming an art, a clever mixture of theatricality and deceit. From John Cena style entrances into church, to the failed forecasting the end of COVID-19, to the COVID-19 is as a result of 5G joke, the entirety of the script is written and designed under the influence of drugs in some cases or even a personal delusion and belief in the divinity of these men of God (gods of men) in themselves. In some cases, their biggest victims are not the thousands of fools paying billions of naira, their biggest victims are they themselves, fooling themselves that they are on a path for God.

I am no atheist, in fact I believe there is a God, but wherever he is, he is extremely patient or unbothered, simply waiting for us to finish our time on earth so he can throw some of these individuals into the roaring fires of hell. But until that time comes, people like me are ministers in the temple of justice, court of public opinion and you, dear reader are the judge, jury and executioner. Whether you exonerate them or execute them is solely up to you but I certainly hope that you do not temper justice with underserved mercy.

"Religion is the opium of the masses." That was one of the first quotes most of us ever heard that opened our minds to the possibility that Sunday school and the equivalents in other religions was us being hoodwinked. This opium like every other drug is peddled mostly to those who have a need to escape from the painful reality that is their lives and latch on to something that gives them a sense of purpose even if just for an hour or two. That purpose may be to usher, to sing in the choir, to head a department or fellowship or whatever responsibility is foisted upon them for those moments. The more time they spend with that opium, the more they are drawn in, becoming shadows of what humans should be with the drug induced belief that they are building their mansions in heaven. I laugh.

Members are encouraged not to ask too many questions, it shows lack of faith, and as you know, ignorance is the biggest of diseases. This manipulation is a common feature of cult like religions, they isolate their members, feed them with propaganda, and make money of them. However, making money is the least of problems. What is a huge problem is when these spiritual yahoo boys actually think themselves divine and order their followers to commit heinous crimes or as in the Guyana tragedy case, to drink cyanide enmasse.

While a host of people find the liquid metal hilarious, what I cannot help but point out is that his church is filled! In every one of his videos, there are people sitting in his chairs and who believe that his comical nonsense is actually inspired by a God. Years later of course they might claim to have been under the influence of terrestrial powers but I doubt it. We should find some way once this pandemic is over to rescue those people because anyone that can convince people to sit through those comedy shows in the name of faith can very easily inspire another Guyana tragedy, and God help us that day.

This is the Alpha and I do not believe the "ladical prophet" should be allowed to roam free for too long. He ought to be committed to psychiatric evaluation very quickly in my opinion. What's yours? Go on, say it with your chest.

  3. This is gold.. Its high time we started talking about this issue. Its ridiculous that he has such a huge congregation. Well,it just proves the point that many Nigerians are gullible and will blindly follow whoever claims to have been called by God. Sigh

  4. I remember a similar story that happened in 1992 or so about a Pastor in the US that ordered his entire congregation to sell all of their properties and give him the proceeds and kill themselves after as the works was ending and only him can intercede on their behalf in the court of God .
Similar stories of how in Zimbabwe, a Minister of God ordered his flock to eat grass and the video went viral on the internet.
We all are not aliens to news of people committing acts of terror and sabotaging national security in the name of religion. It leads us to reconsider the stake and importance which we attach to these things and those who coordinate them. Religion makes people do this that are absolutely out of the realms of commonsense and it is foolish and an instance of incompetence by the State to allow some people wield this kind of power over large numbers of the population.
I suggest that religious houses be under licencing agreements from the govt. These license be laden with strict conditions that protect national security, ensure that there are no gross misconducts or degrading human treatments in the course of worship and the teachings be within the reasonable realms of commonsense.

    1. People who freely consent to a set of principles and practices in as much as they don't affect the society negatively cannot be said to be treated inhumanely so far it is of their own free will.

  5. In this part of the world we're too gullible, any man can call himself a man of God and my people would believe him. We're too religious and that's a serious problem and we can't really tell the difference between religion and spirituality.

For many people, how they think about religion and spirituality is certainly guided by what they see and do in their congregations.

In my opinion, organized religion is the major enemy of authentic spirituality, spirituality is private reflection and private experience —not public ritual. It has nothing to do with being religious really.

Curiosity, intellectual freedom, and an experimental approach to religion and not being restricted by religion, is the key to spirituality.

No, it's not about believing whatever those cheap fraudsters self proclaimed men of God say nor going to church or mosque regularly.

  7. People are just too gullible in this part of the world.Sometimes it's not actually their fault since poverty sort of clouds their thinking. But still, these so called religious leaders should be brought to Justice for preying on the gullibility of people. If only our government can restrain them by putting down certain laws..but sinzu is busy chopping money
