WHAT IS DEMOCRACY?
Today is a special occasion, and this right here is a special undertaking to commemorate it. This write up is pretty short and straight to the point. I'll be giving you a brief exposition on the concept of democracy, and why it'd be pretty sad for you to remain a member of the populace that adores it.
Democracy is probably the most elaborate, manipulative, and esoteric concept ever birthed since religion. The government of the people, by the people, and for the people is a highly utopian mantra that might've seemed remotely attainable at its inception. The less appealing reality must've kicked in as spontaneously as the administrative El Dorado of democracy itself.
Over the course of history, democracy has been a refined plutocracy, with government policies usually tilted towards the interests of the ruling cabal, much similar to the much criticized aristocracy. The founders of democracy, the USA, have turned on their democratically elected government, as well as the opposition party. Even the best of democratic administrations can't make the whole citizenry happy. That's why three of the best presidents in American history in James Garfield, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and Abraham Lincoln himself, were assassinated.
Nigerian democracy is a ridiculously farcical caricature of the American version. It is a bitter blend of an incompetent plutocracy and an aristocratic anarchy... Such organized disorganization. And considering the high level of illiteracy, the high number of 'uneducated' literates, the cumbersome cultural diversity, and the increasingly individualistic nature of Nigerians, it's hard to envisage improvements.
My problem is not as much with democracy, as with the reverence accorded to it. The standard has been set as such that countries that fail to operate a full democracy are usually assigned a villain status or close, such as China, Russia, Middle Eastern states, North Korea, Cuba under Fidel Castro, Libya under Gaddafi, etc. In truth, a lot of these states tend to experience a lot of success from their systems, however radical, even more than a lot of democracies. It's not to say they don't have some shortcomings, though hardly any you wouldn't find in a democratic state.
All in all, democracy is the Invictus Obi of administrative ideologies; a well disguised fraud that others are being blindly urged to emulate.
But I don't want to be a killjoy today of all days, so a happy happy Democracy Day folks!

You already killed the joy😂. Nice write up
