The modern society is modelled by this western way of thinking (read religious and political correctness) that uses over flogged, old words like liberalism, gender bias, gender equality, feminism, internalized misogyny among others to control men. They want you to sink into the belief that as a man that wants a relationship with a woman, you have to be the one chasing and idolizing her. Make her your totem pole that you wake up to in the morning and wipe her feet last before you go to bed. So much for the equaling of the gender. You see, these are the sorta behaviours that breed thinking's like "She's the One and Only" , Ideal soulmate, and other variations. But as a man, ask yourself within you, were you created to have a "One and Only" woman? Everyman knows the more, the merrier. I was disowned two weeks ago. Was that a shock? Lol. It was for 'raising my hand to my mom'. Chill... Wait till you hear the rest. It was a good day. Better than most... In our various homes, a lot of us are under pressure to be "productive" and do something worthwhile with our forced semi incarceration. As a result, many of us and a lot of our peers have joined the development race; attending webinars where people who have "made it" tell us about their achievements while we sit - well some of us lay - and lap up the success stories spiced with teary tales of the hardships they had to endure "to get to where they are today." As the webinars go on, we are inspired within ourselves and we say, "tomorrow I shall do something better." Some of us open group-chats where we add like-minded individuals, sticklers for success, and from there we live happily ever after... psyche! just kidding. Realistically, a larger percentage of those who have attended these webinars will finish the session, go back to upload some quote or the other on their status, and check a few statuses. Oftentimes the argument comes up as to whether or not men and women should be treated equally. My personal thoughts on the subject have always generated controversy particularly in relation to the topic at hand. While there is always an exception to the general rule, I hold a belief that more often than not, women are not as strong as their male counterparts at least physically. As a result I have often argued that combatants in the military should be admitted on a quota system of 7:3. Meaning, that for every three female combatant in the military, there should be at least seven males. The view is by no means inspired by misogyny of any kind however, it is not trapped by the niceties of the recent need to validate an idea of equality which I believe to be irrational when considering obvious biological and physical factors that have constantly shown themselves over time. For most of us, college provides an environment and many opportunities to test out and develop various skills thanks to the sheer multitude of organizations that exist and that we belong to. In these organizations, a lot of us have built connections and within these connections some of us have placed our hearts and souls. We are appointed and or elected as leaders in various capacities. Some of us have been protocol officers at groundbreaking events, heads of committees, organizations, departments and even faculties or unions. The Relationship between the Crown and the Gown: A Social Contract Theory.  Ideally, the Gown should be a solution tank to fix the inadequacies of the Crown. More often than not the average Nigerian student cannot wait to get back to school when he/she is home, however as resumption draws near, we lose the morale to return to the midst of our peers, preferring the safety, security and guaranteed feeding at home to the uncertainty that comes alongside the activity-filled days at school. However once in school, we realize that for most people, school is a sanctuary, a place where we have the freedom to be who we truly are.
