Chairman in school, house-help at home.
For most of us, college provides an environment and many opportunities to test out and develop various skills thanks to the sheer multitude of organizations that exist and that we belong to. In these organizations, a lot of us have built connections and within these connections some of us have placed our hearts and souls. We are appointed and or elected as leaders in various capacities. Some of us have been protocol officers at groundbreaking events, heads of committees, organizations, departments and even faculties or unions. Some of us are dancers, artistes, workout enthusiasts, coaches, teachers at tutorials, and even heads of our small group of friends. We are used to having a semblance of control at least over our own lives and in some cases over others.
For those of us in this category, we usually cannot wait to leave home and return to school where we can once again be captain of the ship and master of our soul. Unfortunately, the ship seems to have been caught in a Corona storm and we are stranded in our various homes. Ordinarily mighty presidents, chairmen, and class governors now govern the dirty dishes in the kitchens as honorable members of various representative councils now honorably sweep sitting rooms and one is left wondering, at what point will order return?

Lol...funny enough I haven't
ReplyDeleteI guess it cos I have a younger sister I can boss around and push my chores to.
ππ
DeleteYou're evil. She can't wait for you to go.
I have a younger sister, but she's wild and I don't have the strength, so I just do my work on my own lol. I think my parents are tired of seeing my face now because I never do anything right anymore. I just want to get back to school as soon as we can. Lol.
DeleteI sincerely cannot wait...i am the welfare secretary of my department but since my elder sis got home..she only brings her plate when I am almost done
Deleteπ€£π€£π€£
DeleteIt's very exasperating actually. The part I hate is sending me on errands and adding a clause. "Go and lock the gate, you're not too big to be sent", "Go and cook for everyone, you're not a baby." I'm tired of hearing stuff like that. Will you just send me and leave it at that???
ReplyDeleteWell,I would say no,I cook at home just like I cook in school, I tidy up the house just like I do in school,no pressures and I'm actually kinda surprised tho,my parents have become more understanding and I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteYour case is different oh. Here I am their certified house girl
DeleteI actually get this, but its different naw...in school I only cool when I feel like, but at home, they must just eat food ni!! In school, I won't always dirty my room but at home, you clean everyday, the number of plates is times 6, bigger pots and pans to wash, etc
DeleteOh Lord!!! This right here!!!!! For me, I have a lot of "online duties", from being PRO to being a staff at a digital marketing company, so I take my time in my room, and by the time I'm out, MOST of the work has been done. But the day that they become cranky ehnnnnn, that's when I'll be hearing stuff like "shebi you're the only PRO" or "shebi you're the first person to use a phone" or the worst one, "when I was your age, my mother didn't even know the way to the kitchen anymore" ahahnn!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish my chest were still intact to share my experience, in short a baby girl is exasperated!!! Chores? I'm use to those. Shouts and nags? Gees, those ones dey. And those tedious deadlines and personal schedules. But you see those times that there is actually no chore left undone but they just create one simply because you have held your phone for too long, I can't cry!! My sister will be like, help me count how many diapers is in the baby's basket or go and count the number of onions remaining!!!
ReplyDeleteThe height of it was threatening to seize my phone, I swear I told her we die there, I'd rather be homelessππ
In my own case my own will talk as if I've done a very bad thing and I would feel guilty cos I didn't do house chores π
ReplyDeleteYes,I'm the unpaid house help in the house, but at least I'm not the gate woman
ReplyDeleteSince no one has to go out
This one dey sha... At least no one is coming in
DeleteWell, glory be to Godπ, my parents have stopped sending me on errands. We all do the house chores and I have come up with a method on how to evade working at home. However, I can so relate with this post because it was not the same thing during the last break.
ReplyDeleteI'm really tired of staying at home. My mum still dey shout up and down for house now. She dey para for me like mad. Ion even the cause of the shout. She never stop. She came to my room again and started shouting that I should open the door, she was like I should never lock the door of my room again till I leave this house and na because of this yeye anger ooo. Ion even know what to do like this because I know say if we resume school sef na from house I dy go school. Ion have any hope of going back to school like some people are. They will be free when they go back to school. Oti Seumi ooo
ReplyDeleteShe don enter my room sef con advise me. I'm fed up
DeleteOver here at home, my mom doesn't like staying idle, she believes no one does d chores better, so we kind of share the task or she sometimes she does them alone. My two siblings, one is sometimes passive and sometimes hardworking, while d Oda is very active. So it has never been tiring
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like private time again. My mom will even guilt trip you so that you can get things done for her.
ReplyDeleteIt's just my younger sis I pitied the most. Do this, do that. Sometimes, I wonder if she's just a robot that doesn't get tired.
This really caught me hands down ππ½ππ½
ReplyDeleteLet me call myself full time house help cos most of the work is being done by me though I don't have any siblings....I don't have any choice than to do all those works
