A PRODUCTIVE CORONA-BREAK, TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

In our various homes, a lot of us are under pressure to be "productive" and do something worthwhile with our forced semi incarceration. As a result, many of us and a lot of our peers have joined the development race; attending webinars where people who have "made it" tell us about their achievements while we sit - well some of us lay - and lap up the success stories spiced with teary tales of the hardships they had to endure "to get to where they are today." As the webinars go on, we are inspired within ourselves and we say, "tomorrow I shall do something better." Some of us open group-chats where we add like-minded individuals, sticklers for success, and from there we live happily ever after... psyche! just kidding.

Realistically, a larger percentage of those who have attended these webinars will finish the session, go back to upload some quote or the other on their status, and check a few statuses. In no time at all, they will see a WhatsApp TV status update and that is the end of the five-minute motivation from the online stan session. While this doesn't apply to everyone, it applies to a large number of individuals and that large number includes me.

The second category of people is pressured by the "do something with the quarantine" agenda into starting online classes. Some people in this category will definitely graduate from online university, recieving certificates from havard or coursera or some other awesome place, while the other set of people in the category will drop out by week 1 or 2 from online school due to a myriad of reasons. Again, I belong to the second set.

The third category may not even begin either of the first two. They may just wander dreamily through whatsapp statuses, viewing the updates of the crypto-currency savvy; "paste your I-Tunes gift cards, sephora, keep coming boss, papping" and the host of crypto jargon that pervades the status section. Days later, the crypto crew are organizing giveaways and the people in category three are left asking; "God when?"

I am here to tell you, NEVER! No celestial being is coming to save you, no webinar session can inspire you, no amount of sub stories will move you if you don't move because if you have listened to them more than once as you probably have multiple times, then your story is probably sadder. You need to - as Jon Bellion once sang "wake the F up!" There is nothing wrong with staying stagnant, if you're into that sort of thing. But if you want to move forward, also know that there is nothing wrong with that either. You are allowed to be jealous, to want more! you are allowed to compete as long as you do it for more than a day or two or three. Keep at it until you have gotten what you wanted in the beginning.

So next time you are tempted to listen to that guy or girl tell yourself to stand up and go make your own success story. That #1,000 will serve you well if you buy more data and finish your online course or save it for a business or put it into a wallet. No one can save you but you. There! I said it, nobody can beat me!

If you read the above and you are feeling inspired, stop it! go and do something right now, or do not, it's your choice. But whatever you do, drop a comment here, and do it with your chest!

  7. I've been too occupied to watch movies, funny I've not been able to complete one online course (I should finish it up by weekend though). I've been doing some content writing and working on a book. My voracious reading habit has taken a chill pill too. All focus on me, God, family and the book I'm working on. Frequent breaks from the internet has been really helpful too.

  10. Productivity is a 50/50 game. You have the will power of the person and the intention to get things done on one side and then you have external forces killing your vibe like lack of steady electricity, mad heat waves, hunger, social media distractions, house chores etc.
The goal is just to make sure that regardless of the obstacles and side tracking occcurences, all the tasks you set out to do are accomplished. Now that's a win.
