Avant-garde Innovation and Technology Services set to host its third Sustainability Table Discourse.

The 3rd edition of the Sustainability Table Discourse is set to hold on the 26th of November 2020. 

The virtual event would have in attendance, entrepreneurs, sustainable development experts, academia, policymakers to share perspectives on how best to achieve a green and digital economy.

The discourse would focus on opportunities available to bring SDGs to scale through telecommunication investment and effective waste management.

The theme of this year's edition is; "Bridging The Digital Divide: Leveraging Technology and Optimal Broadband Penetration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".

Speaking with the Convener who doubles as the Principal Consultant of Avant-garde Innovation and Technology Services, “Our mission is to utilise this forum, the leading sustainability platform in Nigeria as a melting pot where learning and solution-driven dialogue meet. With the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic and civil unrest this year, we saw the lack of internet connectivity posing an existential threat on how business is conducted and the disproportionate gap on young people’s learning within the urban poor and middle-class. With a world increasingly becoming interconnected and migrating digitally, Nigeria urgently needs to collaborate, corporate and coordinate with the rest of the world in ensuring we utilise the blank slate the pandemic provided in leapfrogging our challenges.

He further said, " “Africa’s role in a world of 7.8 billion people should not be skewed to high population concentration, but should be positioned as an investment destination for responsible global investments that ensure accessibly and quality digital infrastructure."

Key panellists include, Yewande Sadiku of NIPC; Mohamad Darwish of IHS Towers, Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, David Kahale – Board Director, World Bank, Peter Ashade, Group CEO of United Capital Plc and Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development – Ekiti State.

Torture Induced Identity Disorder; causing more harm than good.

Ever since I was a child, I have heard the expression; "spare the rod and spoil the child." Teachers, parents, aunts, uncles, basically every adult that beat a child would justify their action of physically inflicting pain on children as a method of training and an expression of love. My parents on the other hand chose a much different approach. In my fairly long life I can remember being flogged by may father a total of three times and I cannot ever remember being compelled to serve corporal punishments. A lot of you reading this would be surprised, why? Because you were beaten like animals. Pardon the use of language, by no means do I think you are an animal, but truth be told, I view the "training" of a child by beating as barbaric.
